Cabo Corrientes: A Day Trip to Paradise
If you're looking for an unforgettable day trip in the heart of nature, look no further than Cabo Corriente. Located south of Arusi and accessible only by boat, this rocky point reveals the lush richness of the Colombian jungle and the wealth of Nuqui's marine ecosystem.
Departure from Arusi
Our excursion began early in the morning in Arusi. Our boat captain, Duvian, was a friendly and competent man who immediately put us at ease. He offers tours in small groups, which allowed us to feel comfortable quickly. The boat is comfortable, and the good mood is palpable.
Whale Watching
We had barely had time to drink our coconut water when a whale appeared and began putting on a show, jumping out of the water. It was an incredible experience to see these majestic creatures up close. We saw whales throughout the entire trip, and even dolphins accompanying them. They are truly numerous between June and October.
Cabo Corrientes
After the whale show, we sailed along the coast to the tip of Cabo Corrientes. This place is truly magical. Several reefs emerge from the water, and one of them, the largest and most majestic, was covered with blue-footed boobies. This species is primarily found in the Galapagos Islands. Many pelicans were fishing by diving into the water.
Duvian showed us a small cave that crosses the point from one side to the other. It seems that the more adventurous swim through it. Promised, we'll do it next time. The water in this spot is turquoise blue, and it is said to be one of the most beautiful diving spots in Colombia.
Playa Verde
After taking a few photos, we set off again, following the south coast of the peninsula. Steep and very rocky cliffs, with a jungle overlooking them. That's where we discovered La Playa Verde, a beach with green sand, bordered by vegetation.
We landed on the beach and went to explore the surroundings. We discovered a natural pool near the mouth of the river. Crystal-clear water in which we enjoyed a delightful bath.
Umali, Jungle, waterfalls and back to Arusi
After a quick snack on the beach, and making sure not to leave any trace of pollution, we quickly boarded again as a group of whales (we counted 7) was heading towards the cape. We followed them for an hour.
As we continued up the coast, we made another stop. The landing was more complicated, between the rocks, to drop us off on a small black sand beach. We put on our boots and started climbing into the jungle, following a small river. This led us to three successive waterfalls. After a final swim, we descended to a plateau that offered us a panoramic view of the Pacific.
We returned to Arusi to enjoy the delicious Pacific cuisine.

This excursion lasts all day, but our advice is to spread it over several days to fully enjoy each location.
